Board Committees – Standing/Ad-hoc
Executive Summary: Board Roles
Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board maintains various committees that specialize on specific areas of our mission. These committees report back to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors as a whole. These committees are: Business Competitive Committee; Youth Committee; Nominating Committee; Audit and Finance Committee; and Legislative Committee. These Committees typically meet on a quarterly basis.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is composed of the Officers and Chairs of the Standing Committees. The Committee meets during intervals of the board meetings. All actions by the Committee are reported to the full board for review and approval.

Business Competitive Committee
The mission of the Business Competitive Committee is to align education and training programs with higher pay and demanding jobs that advance careers; find the more skilled workforce; and enhance the counties efforts to attract and expand job creating businesses. The Committee works closely with Chambers of Commerce, employer groups, and the Economic Development Council.

Youth Committee
The Youth Committee promotes the successful entry of individuals, including young people and adults, working for the first time to enter the workforce through education and work place experience. Committee members work closely with school boards from both Pasco and Hernando counties in crafting programs to encourage completion of high school and foster career exploration.

Nominating Committee
The mission of the Nominating Committee is to evaluate the board composition and determine board applicants that represent the business and targeted occupation needs of the community; propose these board candidates to the Executive Committee as vacancies occur; and propose a slate of officers for the annual meeting.

Audit and Finance Committee
This mission of Audit and Finance Committee is to review and approve the organizational budget; review monthly financial statements; review and approve budget transfers and amendments; review and approve new funding budgets; and recommend cancellation of contracts to the board due to non-performance. The Audit and Finance Committee will also communicate with the auditors as necessary. The Audit and Finance Committee includes an Audit sub-committee that meets semi-annually and has a representative from each county to sit on this sub-committee.

Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee provides options and implications for the Board of Directors regarding long term legislative and regulatory effects to be achieved. This Committee prepares and distributes the Legislative Agenda that Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board prioritizes for current and future governmental action and guides the program of education and orientation for our legislators and other influential persons.

People with Disabilities Services Committee
This mission of this Ad-Hoc Committee is to increase the employment and training opportunities for persons with disabilities; remove artificial employment and training barriers; and ensure the Centers are outfitted with and staff trained on up-to-date accommodation materials and equipment.
