The 2010 Summer Program will provide services to youth in one of the three descriptions listed below:

Group 1, May 16th – June 18th

Developed for “out of school” youth that are either receiving or in a TANF assistance group. To enroll, please contact Denise Szulis at 727-484-3426.

The locations are:

North West Hernando Weeki Wachee, FL	East Pasco Brooksville, FL
West Pasco (South) Holiday, FL	West Pasco (Central) New Port Richey, FL

We are looking for 60 Youth ages 16 -21, who will be enrolled in one of four classes of 15 youth nearest their home. Each participant will be enrolled for a five week period. Youth will work up to 25 hours per week, at a designated site and will receive a training stipend equal to $9.00 per hr. During the 5 week period, the participants will build a desk top computer from parts and learn about Green Technology and alternative energy sources. They will also work with word processing software and develop their employment skills.

Group 2, Jun 1st – Sept 17th

This program is developed for youth that are “out of school”, looking for regular employment and meet the guidelines of the attached application. The locations are near the three Career Central “One Stop” Locations: New Port Richey, Spring Hill and Zephyrhills.

We are looking for 90 youth, ages 16 -21, who will participate in an internship developed with the youth’s career interest in mind and the available work sites within the region.

Each participant will be paid for a six week period during the summer. One week of this six week period will be in a work readiness class. The additional five weeks will be in the internship where each participant can work up to 30 hours per week. Participants in training and internships during this six week period will receive $7.50 per hour.

The expectation is that many of these internships will lead to regular employment.
